Each summer, an average of 400,000 children, teens, and adults participate in summer library programming. Funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and supported by the Boston Bruins, the MBLC works with the Massachusetts Library System (MLS) to coordinate the statewide summer library program. Starting in 2022, Massachusetts will be using the iREAD Summer Reading Program.

- Massachusetts is participating in the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant funded project Building Equity-Based Summer (BEBS). BEBS is a national initiative focused on assisting public library staff in gaining the skills necessary to work with systematically marginalized communities. MBLC is seeking 5 Massachusetts public libraries to participate in the second year of this three-year initiative.
